Airlines are projected to see their highest profits in the third quarter of 2025, with Boeing 737 aircraft expected to play a significant role. According to OAG data, the Boeing 737 will operate 35% of domestic flights in the US during this period. This figure rises to half when regional jets are excluded.

Southwest Airlines, which exclusively operates the Boeing 737, is pivotal to its extensive use, accounting for 47% of these domestic flights. United Airlines follows with an 18% share, and American Airlines holds a 14% share. Allegiant accounts for just 0.5%, having acquired several Boeing 737 MAX 8s.

From July to September, some of the longest domestic flights operated by the Boeing 737 exceed six hours and forty minutes. Notably, Newark to Anchorage ranks as the longest at seven hours and fifty-three minutes. "The Star Alliance member has served the market since 2013," covering a distance of approximately "2,928 nautical miles (5,423 km) each way." The route runs seasonally from May through September using a Boeing 737 MAX 8.

United Airlines' service on this route aligns with high passenger traffic periods between Q2 and Q3 when they transported two-thirds of all passengers flying between Newark and Anchorage.

Another notable route is Las Vegas to Honolulu, operated by Southwest Airlines with block times up to six hours and forty minutes. Although not ranking first in distance compared to Phoenix-Honolulu routes also flown by Southwest, it remains one of their longest routes by time within this period.

Southwest began servicing Las Vegas-Honolulu in April of this year after transporting significantly fewer passengers than Hawaiian Airlines on similar routes last year but achieving higher seat occupancy rates at "94%."

Overall, these long-haul flights highlight strategic scheduling by airlines like United and Southwest during peak travel months while leveraging popular narrowbody aircraft like the Boeing 737 for extended domestic operations.
