Oman Air has officially become the 15th member of the oneworld alliance, marking a significant milestone for the Omani flag carrier. This development opens up Muscat International Airport as a key hub in the Middle East, enhancing connectivity for passengers traveling to and from Oman.

The announcement coincides with Oman Air launching a new route to Amsterdam, emphasizing its aim to strengthen European connectivity. The airline's entry into oneworld follows Fiji Airways' inclusion earlier this year and Alaska Airlines' in 2021.

Oman Air's integration into oneworld allows its Emerald, Sapphire, and Ruby loyalty members to enjoy benefits such as earning and redeeming miles, priority check-in and boarding, and lounge access. Con Korfiatis, CEO of Oman Air, expressed enthusiasm about joining the alliance: "Oman Air is honoured to be joining the oneworld alliance... We are thrilled to be able to welcome oneworld customers to the Sultanate of Oman."

Muscat Airport's strategic location offers convenient access to European and Asian markets. While Qatar Airways is already a major Middle Eastern member of oneworld, additional connectivity through Oman Air enhances the group's network. Oman Air serves 42 destinations across 22 countries, many of which are key hubs for fellow alliance members.

To commemorate its entry into oneworld, Oman Air will launch a new route to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport tomorrow. Nat Pieper, CEO of oneworld, noted that this expansion "opens up exciting new connections for our customers."

The journey toward joining oneworld began three years ago when Oman Air announced its intentions at IATA's Annual General Meeting in Doha in June 2022. Although slightly delayed from their initial goal of joining by 2024, Oman Air's confirmed membership positions it well for future growth within the alliance.
