Alexis von Hoensbroech CEO of WestJet | WestJet

Simple Flying has compiled data from Cirium regarding WestJet's flight operations for June 2025. The analysis reveals several short, yet regularly scheduled flights by the airline. These routes are serviced by the De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft, which WestJet praises as a high-capacity turboprop that performs well even in remote airports with infrastructure limitations.

WestJet, a full-service carrier founded in 1994 and headquartered in Canada, operates primarily out of Calgary International Airport, Toronto Pearson International Airport, and Vancouver International Airport. Alexis von Hoensbroech serves as the company's CEO.

The shortest route planned for June 2025 is a 32-mile flight from Nanaimo Airport to Vancouver International Airport. This daily service offers 2,340 seats over the month and results in 74,880 available seat miles. Despite its brevity, this route is necessary due to geographical constraints; Nanaimo is located on Vancouver Island with no bridge connection to Vancouver.

Another short route is between Vancouver International Airport and Victoria International Airport at 39 miles. WestJet plans to operate this route 133 times in June, providing over 10,000 seats and generating more than 400,000 available seat miles. Competition on this route includes Air Canada Express and Harbour Air.

The Comox Valley Airport to Vancouver International Airport route spans 85 miles. WestJet will offer two daily flights throughout June, totaling nearly 400,000 available seat miles across 4,680 seats.

Moving inland to Alberta, the Lethbridge Airport to Calgary International Airport route covers 116 miles. With one flight per day planned for June, it offers just over 2,300 seats and yields a total of 271,440 available seat miles.

The Cranbrook/Canadian Rockies International Airport to Calgary International Airport service measures at 134 miles. Scheduled for approximately one-and-a-half flights daily in June, it provides almost half a million available seat miles through nearly 3,700 seats.

The Edmonton International Airport to Calgary International Airport service covers a distance of 153 miles. With high frequency—116 flights scheduled—it offers over nine thousand seats and generates the highest number of available seat miles on this list at nearly 1.384 million.

Finally, the longest route examined is from Medicine Hat Airport to Calgary International Airport at 164 miles. This daily service results in about four hundred thousand available seat miles with thirty monthly flights offering over two thousand seats.

All these routes are operated using the De Havilland Canada DHC-8 Q400 variant aircraft known for its capacity and versatility.
