London Heathrow Airport is experiencing a busy schedule of Airbus A380 flights this July, with 21 daily departures on most days. This places it second only to Dubai in terms of A380 operations worldwide. The current frequency shows little change from the previous year but remains 13% lower than pre-pandemic levels in July 2019.

The superjumbo aircraft, known for its large capacity and distinctive design, is operated by British Airways, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Qantas, Qatar Airways, and Singapore Airlines at Heathrow. In the past, airlines such as Air France and China Southern have also used the A380 temporarily at this airport.

Most days see 21 departures except for Tuesdays and Wednesdays when there are 20 due to Etihad's reduced operations. Alongside Emirates and Qatar Airways, these airlines provide up to 11 daily flights to the Middle East from Heathrow.

British Airways offers seven daily A380 departures while Emirates provides six. As noted by ch-aviation data, Emirates holds a significant fleet of A380s with first-class-equipped aircraft serving all its routes from Heathrow.

The network includes various international destinations: British Airways flies to Boston, Johannesburg (twice daily), Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco, and Washington Dulles; Emirates operates six daily flights to Dubai; Etihad serves Abu Dhabi up to three times daily; Qantas connects Sydney via Singapore; Qatar Airways runs two flights per day to Doha; and Singapore Airlines offers two services daily to Singapore.

Compared to July last year, British Airways no longer uses the A380 for Dallas/Fort Worth services but plans a return with different aircraft later this year. Meanwhile, Etihad has increased its weekly departures compared to last summer but reduced them since early 2024.

On Thursday, July 3rd alone demonstrates the variety of routes served by these operators. For instance, Qatar Airways' flight QR6 departs at 08:05 for Doha—a route that marks one of Heathrow's shortest connections by an A380 despite Boston being slightly shorter in distance terms.

Overall flight schedules indicate morning through evening departures covering various global cities demonstrating continued demand for long-haul travel using these large-capacity jets.
