Set in the heart of Florence, Italy, the W Florence hotel has officially opened its doors. Formerly known as the Grand Hotel Majestic, the property now includes 119 guest rooms, with 16 suites and a penthouse. Located on Piazza dell'Unita Italiana, it is within walking distance of famous landmarks such as the Duomo, Uffizi Galleries, and Ponte Vecchio.

The W Florence is the second W Hotel in Italy after W Rome. Marriott plans to open another property, W Sardinia — Poltu Quatu, later this summer. George Fleck, senior vice president and global brand leader for W Hotels, commented on this development: "The opening of W Florence marks another significant milestone in W Hotels journey, deepening our presence in Italy and strengthening our footprint across the region."

The building was originally designed by local architect Lando Bartoli in 1968. It features a partially covered courtyard that once served as a mezzanine for a former bank. The space now includes retro-inspired seating and bold checkered flooring.

Guests at the hotel can enjoy contemporary Italian cuisine at Tratto or cocktails at Zefiro Rooftop when it opens later this summer. An Asian restaurant from chef Akira Back will also be available later this year.

Rooms reflect 1960s- and '70s-inspired design elements with marble and brass accents. The Penthouse suite offers over 1,500 square feet of private terrace space.

Nightly rates start at 431 euros or 70,000 Marriott Bonvoy points.
