Ethiopian Airlines has announced the commencement of a new four-times-weekly passenger service to Porto, Portugal. The announcement was made via a post on X and celebrated at an event attended by ambassadors, ministers, and airline executives.
According to Ethiopian Airlines, the launch of this new service was marked with a ceremony at the Ethiopian Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa. Distinguished guests included Her Excellency Ambassador Luisa Fragoso, the ambassador of Portugal to Ethiopia, alongside Ethiopian government ministers and top airline executives. This development is seen as a significant step in enhancing connectivity between Africa and Southern Europe while also strengthening diplomatic and commercial ties between Ethiopia and Portugal.
As reported by Travel News Portugal, Ethiopian Airlines now operates four direct flights per week between Addis Ababa and Porto. This route is expected to serve business travelers, tourists, and the Ethiopian-Portuguese diaspora by providing more flexibility and choice. Officials from both countries have highlighted the potential for increased trade and cultural exchange facilitated by this direct connection.
