Individuals holding certain American Express cards can now have their Clear Plus membership fees covered annually, according to a recent announcement. The Platinum Card from American Express, The Business Platinum Card from American Express, the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire, and the American Express Green Card offer statement credits that could cover up to the full cost of a Clear Plus membership each calendar year. Enrollment is required for this benefit.

Clear Plus is an expedited security program that uses biometric data such as iris and fingerprint scans instead of traditional photo IDs at airports and select entertainment venues across the United States. It allows members to bypass standard security lines by using dedicated lanes. As Clint Henderson from The Points Guy notes, "In practice, you enter a dedicated security checkpoint lane and input your biometric data into a kiosk."

Typically priced at $209 per year, the Clear Plus membership cost aligns with the statement credits offered by several American Express cards. The Platinum Card from American Express provides an up to $199 credit due to a recent increase in membership fees.

To utilize this benefit, cardholders must enroll their eligible Amex card through their account portal before applying for or renewing a Clear Plus membership online. For those enrolled in Delta SkyMiles, United MileagePlus, or Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan programs, discounted rates on memberships are available based on status level.

American Express clarifies that statement credits should appear within two to four weeks after purchase; however, experiences may vary. While some users report seeing credits applied within days, it's essential to follow the necessary steps for enrollment and payment with an eligible card.

For families traveling together, children under 18 can accompany registered adults without additional charges. Adding adult family members costs $125 per person for up to three individuals.

The Clear Plus program continues expanding its reach with over 55 U.S. airports and nearly 20 entertainment venues offering these services.

In summary, this new feature offers cardholders significant savings on airport security convenience while providing flexibility in usage for themselves or family members throughout the year.
