FedEx has supported a program aimed at nurturing creativity and environmental awareness among children living in foster care facilities in the Tokyo metropolitan area. The initiative, organized by the non-profit organization Mirai no Mori, took place around Mount Mitake in western Tokyo. FedEx volunteers engaged with the children through nature-themed craft activities, sharing valuable time together.

During this day-long program, children gathered materials along the Tama River and brainstormed ideas to create unique nature art. FedEx volunteers assisted them in freely expressing their creativity while also learning about the importance of environmental conservation.

Kei Kubota, Managing Director of FedEx Express in Japan, stated: "FedEx is committed to the healthy development of local communities and environmental improvement. Experiences with nature not only foster creativity and teamwork but also instill environmental awareness in children. We believe these values empower them throughout their lives to engage with society compassionately and proactively."

Currently, approximately 23,000 children live in foster care facilities across Japan. The Back to Nature program aims to provide these children with opportunities for success and learning through outdoor activities such as hiking, forestry experiences, and rafting. These activities are designed to equip them with confidence and resilience needed for independent living after leaving foster care. This support activity was conducted as part of FedEx's global social contribution initiative, FedEx Cares.
