Virgin Atlantic has announced a series of enhancements aimed at improving passenger experience, including the introduction of free Starlink WiFi and upgraded aircraft cabins. The announcement was made during an event in London, where Simple Flying was present.

The airline will offer complimentary Starlink WiFi to passengers, joining other carriers like Qatar Airways and airBaltic in this move. Virgin Atlantic plans to begin the rollout in the third quarter of 2026, with completion expected by the end of 2027. The service will be available on its Airbus A330neos, A350s, and Boeing 787s.

CEO Shai Weiss commented on these developments: "In the last four decades, we’ve evolved from a challenger to a leader and a premium, long-haul flag carrier... We are investing billions to fly the youngest fleet across the Atlantic, the first UK airline to have free, streaming quality, fleet-wide Wi-Fi, more premium seats and a full retrofit of the 787 fleet... The best is yet to come."

This initiative is part of Virgin Atlantic's $17 billion fleet transformation plan announced at last year's Farnborough Airshow. By 2028, new aircraft deliveries and upgrades will include installing Starlink WiFi and redesigning cabins for its Boeing 787 fleet. The refit will see Upper Class seats increase from 31 to 44 with a new "Retreat Suite" feature. Premium economy seats will also rise from 35 to 56. Consequently, the economy cabin will reduce from 192 seats to 127.

The airline also plans changes for its Airbus A330neo orders, increasing Upper Class seats from 32 to 48 and Premium seats from 46 to 56 while reducing economy seating from 184 to 128.

Other announcements included launching a new app in December 2025 featuring an AI-powered virtual concierge. Further improvements are planned for Clubhouse lounges along with signature food and drink offerings and a skincare partnership with Votary.

Additionally, changes are coming for Virgin Atlantic's Flying Club frequent flyer program. Although details are not yet provided, these changes aim to reward loyal customers who may not meet typical annual spending requirements.

These initiatives reflect Virgin Atlantic's strategy to differentiate itself as an airline committed to innovation and customer experience.
