Cathay Cargo has successfully transported 10 terracotta army figures and over 200 artefacts from Xi’an to Perth for the exhibition "Terracotta Warriors: Legacy of the First Emperor." This event is organized by the Shaanxi Provincial Cultural Heritage Administration with support from various cultural institutions, including the WA Museum Boola Bardip.

The transportation process highlights Cathay Cargo's capability in handling special cargo. The company utilized its Cathay Expert and Cathay Secure solutions to create a customized plan that addressed the unique needs of this shipment. The transport involved detailed preparation, including GPS tracking and real-time surveillance, ensuring safe delivery.

Tom Owen, Director of Cargo at Cathay, stated: “The terracotta warriors are among China’s most iconic cultural treasures. It is a great privilege to help bring Chinese culture to the world by transporting these important relics from their home in Xi’an to Perth for the exhibition, ensuring their safe transport at every step of their journey."

Jason Fair, Director Museums and Exhibitions at WA Museum Boola Bardip, remarked on the significance of this exhibition: “What makes this exhibition unique and the first of its kind is its impressive collection of priceless artefacts. Most of the objects have never been seen in Australia before, with nearly half leaving China for the first time."

The exhibition will run until February 22, 2026. Afterward, Cathay Cargo will return these historical items to Xi’an.
