A 68-year-old Ohio man survived a plane crash at Toledo Suburban Airport in Monroe County on Tuesday, according to officials. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. in Ottawa Lake, approximately 64 miles south of Detroit and about 18 miles south of Dundee.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the pilot, a resident of Sylvania, Ohio, was flying a 2008 Cessna COLC41-550FG aircraft when he encountered mechanical issues during landing. The plane veered off the runway into a field and collided with a tree. The pilot was the only person aboard and reported no injuries to first responders before being released.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration have been notified about the incident. Authorities are continuing their investigation and urge anyone with information to contact the Monroe County Sheriff's Office at (734) 240-7553.
