ITA Airways has announced an extension of its suspension of flights to and from Tel Aviv through August 31, citing operational reasons. This includes flights AZ809 and AZ815 on September 1. Passengers affected by this decision can either rebook their flights or request refunds.

According to the official ITA Airways communication page, the initial suspension was implemented in October 2023 due to security and operational concerns in the region. The extension follows a continued assessment of the volatile situation, which remains unpredictable for commercial aviation. Reuters reports that ITA Airways, along with several other European carriers, has repeatedly adjusted services to Tel Aviv in response to ongoing hostilities and related challenges.

The airline's website confirms that all flights to and from Tel Aviv are suspended until August 31, 2025. Flights AZ809 and AZ815 on September 1 are also affected by this extension. Passengers with reservations on these flights can request a full refund or rebook their journey without penalties. ITA Airways advises passengers to check the flight status regularly on its website for real-time updates.

FlightGlobal notes that ITA Airways' suspension aligns with a broader trend among European carriers, many of whom have modified or canceled routes to Israel since late 2023. These decisions are based on operational risk assessments and consultations with international aviation and security authorities. Reuters adds that airlines in the region are closely monitoring the security environment and will update schedules as conditions permit.

ITA Airways, launched in October 2021 as Italy's national carrier succeeding Alitalia, is headquartered in Rome. It operates a modern fleet on domestic and international routes. The airline joined the SkyTeam alliance in 2021 and focuses on expanding its reach while emphasizing sustainable aviation practices. According to SkyTeam alliance information, ITA Airways positions itself as a premium choice for international travelers within Italy’s aviation sector.
