Airbus has experienced a shift in its A350F order backlog. The aircraft manufacturer revealed that despite an order from Saudi Arabian lessor AviLease for 10 freighters, the backlog only increased by three units in June. This change is attributed to Air Lease Corporation (ALC), which initially ordered seven A350Fs in November 2021 as part of a larger deal but has now canceled this order.
On July 8, Airbus disclosed its orders and deliveries for June, noting a total of 203 new orders. The net order backlog improved significantly from May's figure of 215 to reach 402 by the end of June. In comparison, Boeing recorded 116 orders during the same period.
The cancellation by ALC was first reported by FlightGlobal. As of June 30, ALC had a fleet comprising 495 owned and 53 managed aircraft, with plans for an additional 241 new deliveries from both Airbus and Boeing through to 2031.
