Asiana Airlines is set to reintroduce the Airbus A380 on its route between Seoul Incheon and Frankfurt, replacing the smaller A350 aircraft. This change will bring regular A380 flights back to Europe from Asiana, joining seven other airlines that operate the superjumbo on the continent.
The 495-seat double-decker will begin operating from August 7 through December 31, providing a significant increase in capacity with an additional 59% seats per flight compared to the previous aircraft. The route will run four times weekly, down from daily services last year.
Frankfurt has been a major market for travel from Seoul, with 415,000 local round-trip passengers recorded last year. This demand stems from various factors including a large Korean community in the Frankfurt area and significant business ties between South Korea and Germany.
