The Prime Visa credit card from Chase is offering a limited-time welcome bonus of an instant $250 Amazon gift card upon approval. This offer coincides with the upcoming Prime Day, which starts on July 8 and runs until midnight on July 11. The card, popular among staffers and readers of The Points Guy (TPG), offers substantial cash-back rewards for purchases made on Amazon.

Prime Visa requires an active Prime membership, costing $14.99 monthly or $139 annually, but does not have an annual fee itself. New applicants who are approved will receive the gift card instantly, providing an opportunity to offset costs during Prime Day shopping.

"The Points Guy" notes that this offer is particularly advantageous as it requires no spending to receive the gift card. Historically, the usual offer has been a $150 gift card upon approval, with occasional increases to $200.

The Prime Visa provides several benefits beyond the welcome offer. Cardholders earn 5% cash back on purchases at Amazon.com, Amazon Fresh, and Whole Foods Market; 5% cash back on travel booked through Chase Travel℠; 2% cash back on gas stations and local transit; and 1% cash back on other purchases. Rewards can be redeemed for various options including cash back and travel bookings.

Additional perks include purchase and travel protections such as auto rental coverage and baggage delay insurance. However, potential applicants should be aware of Chase's 5/24 rule which may affect eligibility if they have opened five or more credit accounts in the past 24 months.

For frequent Amazon shoppers with a Prime membership, this no-annual-fee card presents a compelling option due to its high rewards rate and current welcome bonus.
