Star Alliance Lounge at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport | Official Website

After flying back to Frankfurt Airport with Lufthansa, a review was conducted of the Star Alliance Lounge at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. This lounge is one of six airports featuring an alliance-operated lounge from the Star Alliance, which includes Lufthansa as a member.

The review covers various aspects such as access, catering, and facilities. Despite different branding, there was noted crossover with the airport's oneworld lounge. Both lounges share a kitchen with an adjacent Aspire lounge.

The Star Alliance lounge is located in the Schengen area of Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. It can be challenging to find as it is not clearly signposted as the Star Alliance lounge; passengers must follow signs for "Airline Lounge 27." Access is reserved for those flying on a Star Alliance flight from Amsterdam Schiphol in business class, first class, or those holding Star Alliance Gold status with a member airline.

First impressions reveal that the lounge mostly consists of one large rectangular space divided into smaller areas by clever divider placement. The atmosphere contrasts with the "Travel Bright" oneworld lounge due to its darker tones. The air conditioning was set high during an unprecedented heat wave in Europe, causing discomfort.

Various seating zones are available within the lounge including dining zones and single booth seating. A large window provides views over the public visitor terrace and a retired KLM Fokker 100 aircraft.

Seating options include single booths that provide comfort and ample workspace. Power sockets are plentiful throughout the space, and Wi-Fi speeds were measured at 103Mbps download and 172Mbps upload.

Food and beverage options were somewhat disappointing during this visit between 06:30-07:30. Cold options were available instead of expected hot meals like bacon and eggs found in other lounges such as Lufthansa Senator lounges.

Self-service drinks included coffee, beer on tap, and self-pour spirits. A "Milk Coffee" and apple juice were chosen given the early hour.

Staff presence was minimal but friendly when encountered. Guests were encouraged to tidy up after themselves which contributed positively to their experience.

Overall value highlights that this quiet haven offers respite from airport terminal hustle if time allows before a flight with a Star Alliance carrier.

Comparing it to non-Schengen oneworld lounges reveals each excels differently; however personal preference leaned towards ambiance at this location while acknowledging superior food offerings elsewhere.
