Delta Air Lines is set to launch a new nonstop route from Salt Lake City International Airport to South America, marking the first-ever such service from the Utah capital. Starting December 4, the airline will offer daily flights to Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima, Peru, continuing until January 25, 2026. The route will be serviced by a Boeing 767-300ER.

The new connection aims to facilitate travel for those interested in exploring Peru's attractions like Machu Picchu and the Amazon rainforest. It also offers opportunities for visitors heading north to experience Utah's mountains and national parks.

"This new route is a significant milestone for Delta and our customers in Salt Lake City and throughout the Mountain West," stated Paul Baldoni, senior vice president of network planning at Delta. "With this expanded connectivity through our Salt Lake City hub, we're proud to offer a faster, more convenient way to reach Lima and other major cities across South America."

Salt Lake City airport officials project that this route will open up 30 new one-stop destinations in South America for local travelers. This development further strengthens Delta's partnership with LATAM Airlines Group, which began in 2022. Their collaboration allows them to coordinate routes and schedules while jointly selling tickets.

Since their partnership began, Delta and LATAM have introduced seven new routes between the U.S. and South America. These include services from Orlando International Airport to Bogota and Santiago; Los Angeles International Airport to São Paulo; and John F. Kennedy International Airport to Rio de Janeiro.

This long-haul route follows five years after Salt Lake City's terminal expansion aimed at supporting Delta's growth as a hub there. The airline previously launched its only nonstop flight from Salt Lake City to Asia with a daily service to Seoul's Incheon International Airport.
