Saudia has announced a temporary suspension of its direct flights between Jeddah and Los Angeles during the upcoming winter months. The Saudi Arabian airline will halt its three weekly flights from January 22, 2026, to May 12, 2026, due to low demand for air travel between these destinations during this period.

The global travel industry often experiences reduced activity in February and March. Historically, Saudia has also adjusted its flight schedules accordingly. Last winter, the airline operated a limited number of flights on this route and completely suspended it until May. Data from Cirium showed that in February 2024, only eight flights were operated, with plans for just 18 flights in May.

In previous years, such as 2023, Saudia continued operations but faced low load factors during these months. According to Cirium data, the load factor was recorded at 64% in February 2023 and increased slightly to 70% in March before dropping to 52% in April.

The Jeddah to Los Angeles route is Saudia's longest flight path. It usually takes around 15 hours and 45 minutes but can exceed up to nearly 17 hours according to Flightradar24.com data. This journey covers approximately 7,240 nautical miles.

Saudia utilizes its Boeing 777-300ER fleet for this long-haul route. These aircraft can accommodate over 405 passengers depending on their configuration. Currently, Saudia operates a total of 37 Boeing 777-300ERs with an average age of about ten years.

In related news, Saudia is set to resume its Dammam-London Heathrow route starting November 5, 2025. The service will be available three times a week using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.

Saudia continues to expand its fleet with additional Boeing aircraft expected in the future.
