United Airlines is set to expand its winter travel routes by adding a new destination on Mexico's Pacific coast. Starting December 20, the airline will introduce a Saturday-only nonstop flight from Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport to Tepic International Airport. This route will be operated using an Embraer E175 aircraft.
The addition of Tepic marks United as the first U.S. airline to offer flights to this location, which is situated near the Riviera Nayarit coast, north of Puerto Vallarta. Previously, only Volaris provided nonstop service from Tepic to Los Angeles International Airport.
This move follows United's earlier expansion in Mexico with the introduction of flights to Puerto Escondido International Airport in April. American Airlines plans to begin operations there in December as well.
