Ethiopian Airlines has announced the launch of a new daily passenger service to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The inaugural ceremony was attended by senior airline, government, and UAE embassy officials. The announcement was made on the social media platform X.

According to Ethiopian Airlines' official statement on X, the introduction of daily flights to Abu Dhabi enhances the airline's service between Africa and the Middle East. Abu Dhabi is recognized as a central hub for commerce, culture, and tourism in the Gulf region, attracting travelers for both business and leisure. This route launch is part of Ethiopian Airlines' strategy to deepen regional partnerships and expand intercontinental travel options for African passengers.

The inaugural event took place at the Ethiopian Skylight Hotel and featured attendance from several dignitaries including H.E. Lt.-Gen. Yilma Merdassa, Ethiopian Airlines Group Board Chairman; Mr. Mesfin Tasew, CEO; H.E Ambassador Dewano Kedir, Director General of Middle East, Asia and Pacific Affairs; Mr. Hamad Albadawi, Director of Visa Center; along with UAE embassy officials and delegates. Wikipedia notes that Ethiopian Airlines is Ethiopia’s flag carrier and Africa's largest airline, operating flights to over 130 international and domestic destinations from its Addis Ababa hub. Founded in 1945, it is a member of Star Alliance known for its modern fleet and comprehensive global route network. Wikipedia also highlights that Ethiopian Airlines plays a crucial role in connecting Africa to key cities worldwide while supporting trade, tourism, and regional integration as a leader in the continent’s aviation sector.
