Etihad Airways has announced the launch of services to seven new destinations—Almaty, Baku, Bucharest, Medina, Tashkent, Tbilisi, and Yerevan—beginning in November 2025. This initiative is part of its Etihad Beyond Borders campaign. The announcement was made on X.

According to The National, this expansion marks a significant growth in Etihad Airways' network across Central Asia, the Caucasus, Europe, and the Middle East. The move strategically positions Abu Dhabi as a global hub, enhancing connections between East and West and supporting the United Arab Emirates' tourism growth strategy. Etihad’s CEO Antonoaldo Neves noted that this expansion fills a gap left by other airlines and reflects Etihad’s focus on fostering cultural and commercial ties with fast-growing markets.

Aviation A2Z reports that Etihad will implement the new destinations in phases. Service to Medina will commence on November 9, 2025, followed by Almaty, Tbilisi, Baku, Yerevan, Tashkent, and Bucharest in March 2026. Each destination will have a varying number of weekly flights; cities like Baku and Yerevan will see up to ten flights per week. This phased rollout allows Etihad to allocate resources efficiently while testing demand and building route awareness in each new market as part of its Beyond Borders campaign.

According to Aerotime, these additions align with Etihad’s "Journey 2030" growth strategy. This strategy targets a 15 percent annual increase in passenger numbers with an aim to reach 38 million travelers by 2030. The service to Medina is designed to meet high demand for religious tourism with six weekly flights. Other destinations are expected to enhance cultural and economic links to Abu Dhabi. The full expansion plan for 2025 includes earlier route announcements to cities such as Prague, Warsaw, Sochi, and Atlanta. This brings Etihad’s total new destinations for the year to 29.

Wikipedia provides context on Etihad Airways as the national airline of the United Arab Emirates based in Abu Dhabi since 2003. It operates a fleet of over 90 aircraft serving more than 80 global destinations and is recognized for its premium service and operational reliability. Wikipedia also highlights Etihad's role in connecting Abu Dhabi with major cities worldwide while supporting the emirate's position as a leading international aviation hub.
