Flight EK913 from Emirates Airlines arrived at Damascus International Airport, marking the airline's return to the Syrian capital. The flight, carrying 286 passengers, was welcomed with a water cannon salute.

The UAE delegation on board included H.E. Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports and Chairman of the UAE Space Agency, alongside several Emirates executives such as Adel Al Redha, Deputy President and Chief Operations Officer; Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, Divisional Senior Vice President International Affairs; Adil Al Ghaith, Senior Vice President Commercial Operations (Centre); Sami Aqil, Senior Vice President – Emirates Airport Services Outstation and Business Support; Nick Moore, Senior Vice President Passenger and Hub operations; and Ahmad Al Khamis – Vice President Aeropolitical Affairs.

Other members of the delegation were H.E Omar Bin Ghaleb from the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority and representatives from Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Dubai Police.

A VIP reception in Damascus included H.E. Hasan Ahmed Al-Shehhi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Syria; Amjad Nakhal from the General Authority of Civil Aviation; Anis Fallouh from Damascus International Airport; Colonel Omar Abdel Baqi overseeing security at Damascus International Airport; and Alaa Sallal from the General Authority of Civil Aviation.

Adil Al Ghaith commented on the importance of resuming flights to Damascus: “Today marks a significant milestone as we celebrate the return of Emirates to Damascus. By providing our services and connecting Damascus to the world, we are helping to reunite families, friends, and communities who have long awaited easier access to their loved ones."

He also noted that "the UAE and Syria have historically enjoyed strong bilateral ties," highlighting that this move aims to boost tourism, trade, investment opportunities while connecting Syria with nearly 150 destinations globally.

Alaa Sallal emphasized cooperation between Syrian authorities and their counterparts in the UAE: "The teams from the Syrian Civil Aviation Authority and the United Arab Emirates worked tirelessly... These fruitful efforts culminated in the successful reinstatement of Emirates’ flights to Damascus."

Initially operating three times per week on Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday with plans for an additional Saturday flight starting August 2nd*, services will expand further by October 26th*. Passengers can enjoy benefits like codeshare partnerships with flydubai for added convenience.
