Delta Air Lines has announced plans to expand its operations from Los Angeles International Airport with new nonstop services to Hong Kong and Chicago O'Hare International Airport. The Atlanta-based airline will begin daily flights to Hong Kong on June 6, 2025, using an Airbus A350-900 jet. This move positions Delta against competitors United Airlines and Cathay Pacific, who already serve the Los Angeles-Hong Kong route.
Paul Baldoni, Senior Vice President of Network Planning for Delta, emphasized the company's commitment to offering routes that meet customer demand: "As the largest global carrier at LAX, we’re continuing to invest in routes that matter to our customers and deliver the premium travel experience that they’ve come to expect from Delta."
In addition to passenger service, Delta sees potential in the cargo market between Los Angeles and Hong Kong due to the A350's large cargo capacity. The airline also announced a domestic expansion with three daily flights from Los Angeles to Chicago O'Hare starting June 7, 2026. This route is already served by United and American Airlines, both of which operate hubs at O'Hare.
