FedEx has announced the opening of a new logistics facility in Manchester, marking a significant development in its UK operations. The state-of-the-art facility is equipped with enhanced capabilities for customers and offers a modern working environment for team members. This new site represents a relocation of FedEx's Manchester operations, providing an opportunity to upgrade services in the Northwest region.

Strategically positioned just half a mile from Manchester Airport, the facility is situated in the Northwest corridor, which contributes 22.5% to the UK's total freight GDP. This move emphasizes FedEx's commitment to advancing air cargo infrastructure in the UK and supporting British businesses with improved parcel and freight capabilities.

The 38,000 square foot space features advanced technologies such as an automated sorting system and x-ray machines designed to increase throughput, speed, and efficiency for customer service improvements.

Steve Johnson, Managing Director of UK Air Operations at FedEx stated: “The opening of our enhanced facility in Manchester is a significant milestone for FedEx and our valued customers as we continue to advance our freight capabilities in the UK. With the rising demand for cargo aviation and the rapid growth of e-commerce, we recognize the need to reconfigure our network to prioritize both speed and efficiency.”

He added: “We are committed to setting our customers up for success in what continues to be a dynamic period for trade and logistics. We have seen first-hand the positive impact our investment in technological capabilities has had at our Stansted Airport facility for small and medium-sized enterprises. Our goal is to ensure businesses in the Northwest experience the same benefits.”

FedEx serves 220 countries and territories worldwide, connecting over 2.5 million shippers with 200 million customers daily while delivering 17 million packages globally each day. Since entering the UK market in 1984, FedEx has provided transportation services catering to both international and domestic business needs. The company operates three air hubs across Britain and plans further enhancements by opening two additional logistics hubs near Kingsbury/Atherstone and Marston Gate by 2029.
