United Airlines, Alaska Airlines, and American Airlines are increasing their fleets of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft as production ramps up. United Airlines leads with over 200 Boeing 737 MAXs operating daily. The airline uses the flexibility of these planes to adjust based on route demand. Andrew Nocella, Chief Commercial Officer of United Airlines, stated, "In supply chain terms, we want to make sure we get our aircraft, so we've committed to the MAX 9."
Alaska Airlines operates 87 Boeing 737 MAX family aircraft and plans to expand its fleet with more models. Nat Pieper, senior vice president at Alaska Airlines, said in a previous statement: "We're excited to add these new 737 models to our fleet and continue our upgauging strategy."
American Airlines uses the 737 MAX for short- and medium-haul routes. CEO Robert Isom remarked last year: "Over the past decade, we have invested heavily to modernize and simplify our fleet." The airline has ordered additional Boeing 737 MAX jets.
