Spirit Airlines is set to expand its route network by launching a new service from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport to Middle Georgia Regional Airport in Macon, Georgia. The service will commence on October 16, 2025, offering twice-weekly flights. This move aims to provide lower fares and improved accessibility for travelers between Central Georgia and South Florida.

The announcement follows Spirit's emergence from bankruptcy with a revised focus on premium travel products, moving away from its previous "no-frills" approach. The airline is working towards profitability while deepening its partnership with Contour Airlines.

Macon is the third destination in Georgia that Spirit will serve by the end of the year, alongside Atlanta and Savannah. Notably, Macon marks the first route launch as part of Spirit's collaboration with Contour, which operates regional flights under the United States' Essential Air Service program.

Doug Faour, Director of Aviation at Macon-Bibb County, expressed excitement about the new service: "South Florida has consistently been one of the most popular destinations for travelers in our region, and we're excited to offer nonstop service to this top destination through Spirit Airlines."

As Spirit continues to adapt post-bankruptcy, it explores partnerships and smaller markets beyond major hubs. The airline is also enhancing its customer experience with premium seating options and new fare bundles.
