Spirit Airlines is set to launch flights to Middle Georgia Regional Airport (MCN) in Macon, Georgia. This move marks the first destination under a new partnership with regional carrier Contour Airlines.

Starting October 16, Spirit will operate twice-weekly flights between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and MCN using an Airbus A320-family aircraft. The airline announced introductory fares beginning at $49.99 one-way.

Under this agreement, Contour will manage ground services for Spirit at MCN. "The airlines touted the pact as a way to expand air connectivity to 'underserved communities across the country,'" according to the announcement made on Thursday.

Contour currently offers two daily flights from Dulles International Airport (IAD) near Washington, D.C., to MCN, subsidized by the U.S. Department of Transportation's Essential Air Service program.

With this addition, MCN becomes Spirit's third city in Georgia alongside Atlanta and Savannah. The partnership with Contour was initially unveiled in May and aims to add flights from major leisure destinations to Contour's EAS markets across the U.S.

This collaboration is Spirit's first since emerging from Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March. During its restructuring process, Spirit reduced debt and fleet size after a failed merger attempt with JetBlue.

Spirit has become smaller post-restructuring, operating nearly 20% fewer seats in the first half of 2025 compared to last year, as reported by Cirium data.

Contour serves 23 EAS and small communities across the U.S., including Barkley Regional Airport (PAH) in Paducah, Kentucky; Canyonlands Regional Airport (CNY) in Moab, Utah; and Shenandoah Valley Airport (SHD) in Weyers Cave, Virginia.

However, there is no connection between this pact and Spirit's Free Spirit loyalty program at present.
