Emirates Airbus A380 | Official Website

The UAE's national airline, Emirates, continues to leverage its fleet of Airbus A380s across several routes in the United States. As the largest operator of this aircraft model globally, Emirates maintains a significant presence in the US market. The airline first introduced the A380 on a scheduled service between Dubai International Airport and New York John F. Kennedy Airport in 2008.

Over the years, these superjumbos have become central to Emirates' long-haul operations, servicing major intercontinental routes from Dubai. The A380 is deployed on high-demand routes such as Dubai–London Heathrow and Dubai–New York JFK.

Emirates has operated flights to Houston since 2007 but introduced the A380 to this route in December 2014. The service has seen interruptions with changes back to smaller aircraft like the Boeing 777-300ER during certain periods.

Another strategic route for Emirates is Washington Dulles Airport. The airline began flying there in September 2012 with a Boeing 777 and later upgraded to an A380 in February 2016. This change was partly due to United Airlines ceasing operations on this route, allowing Emirates to fill the capacity gap with its larger aircraft.

Additionally, Emirates operates a unique fifth freedom flight between Milan Malpensa Airport and New York JFK using an A380. This service supports trade and tourism between Italy and the US by providing premium capacity on this international link.

Currently, Emirates' flights between the US are nearly evenly divided between its A380s and Boeing 777s. In total, it plans over 5,000 flights to US destinations throughout 2025 using both types of aircraft.

The airline's future fleet expansion includes orders for additional widebody jets such as Airbus A350-900s and Boeing's upcoming models like the 777X and various versions of the Dreamliner series.
