Delta Air Lines is reportedly nearing a decision to place an order for Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners. According to sources from One Mile At A Time and JonNYC, the Atlanta-based airline may announce this deal by late 2025 or early 2026.
These reports surface as Delta aims to update its long-haul fleet and phase out its older Boeing 767-300ERs as part of a broader strategy for widebody aircraft. Simple Flying has reached out to Delta Air Lines for comments on these developments.
During its Q4 2023 earnings call, Delta's leadership confirmed plans to retire the Boeing 767-300ER fleet by 2030, with international long-haul services winding down by 2028. Currently, Delta relies mainly on its Airbus widebody fleet, which includes various models such as the Airbus A350-900s and A330 variants.
