Royal Air Force Red Arrows | Official Website

The Royal Air Force's Red Arrows began the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) at Fairford Air Base with a display of aerobatics and formation maneuvers. The event, celebrating its 40th anniversary, is recognized as one of the top air shows globally.

The three-day festival will feature various aircraft, including AWACS surveillance jets, eVTOL air taxis, and Pakistani JF-17 fighter jets. The Royal Jordanian Falcons are also set to perform aerobatic displays during the weekend.

Approximately 200 aircraft are expected at RAF Fairford for this year's show themed "Eyes in the Skies." Highlights include Boeing Rivet Joint and E-3F surveillance jets from the RAF and French AF. Many aircraft have special liveries for the event, such as Pakistan's Lockheed Martin C-130 Hercules.

RAF Fairford anticipates over 180,000 visitors to witness more than 18 hours of aerial demonstrations by tactical aircraft from over 30 nations. This year's theme emphasizes ISR, AWACS, and AEW missions' strategic importance. Featured aircraft include Boeing Wedgetail AEW.1 and Poseidon MRA.1.

Pakistan's contingent includes JF-17 Thunder Block-III fighter aircraft and a specially adorned C-130 Hercules transport. The JF-17s completed aerial refueling en route to RIAT with an Ilyushin IL-78 tanker. Developed with China's assistance, this marks the first appearance of the multi-role fighter at RIAT.

The JF-17 was developed by Chengdu Aircraft Corporation (CAC) and Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC), replacing older Mirage fighters in Pakistan's fleet since its debut in 2007.
