Widebody aircraft are essential in the global commercial fleet, with Boeing and Airbus leading the market. The Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 are prominent models connecting long-haul routes worldwide. Currently, Boeing produces the 777 and 787 Dreamliner, while Airbus manufactures the A330 and A350.

In terms of orders for 2025, Boeing's Dreamliner range has received around 2,200 orders since its launch, whereas the A350 has over 1,400 commitments. This year alone, Boeing outperformed Airbus with double the sales figures. Notably, Qatar Airways placed a significant order for 130 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and an additional 30 for the upcoming 777X model.

Airbus secured substantial orders as well; however, their numbers were overshadowed by Boeing's achievements. The A330neo saw a total of 71 firm commitments this year from various airlines like IAG and Malaysia Airlines. Meanwhile, the A350 had better success with a total of 94 firm orders.

Boeing delivered more widebodies than Airbus in 2025 so far—37 Dreamliners compared to Airbus' combined delivery of both A330neo and A350 models. Delivery schedules remain crucial for maintaining customer confidence amidst supply chain challenges faced by both manufacturers.

Regarding active widebodies globally today: there are approximately 2,153 active Airbus planes compared to about 3,613 Boeings—a testament to each company's reach within airline fleets worldwide.

Safety records play an important role too; only one hull loss incident occurred involving a Boeing aircraft earlier this year due to human factors rather than technical issues on board.

Despite some setbacks related mainly towards production delays concerning future releases such as its flagship product -the much-anticipated yet postponed release date expected now around late '26/'27-, it appears that overall performance favors American giant "Boeing" when evaluating key metrics across different aspects influencing competitive standings between these two major players within aerospace industry landscape today!
