Hawaiian Airlines is set to increase its flight offerings for the upcoming holiday season. The airline plans to add flights between Honolulu International Airport and three major destinations: Los Angeles, Seattle, and Sydney. This decision follows last winter's successful increase in holiday flights to various West Coast destinations.

The schedule expansion includes adding a daily flight to Los Angeles International Airport and increasing capacity on the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport route by replacing an A321neo aircraft with a Boeing 787-9. Additionally, Hawaiian Airlines will enhance its international route frequency by offering daily flights from Honolulu to Sydney during the December-January period.

Brent Overbeek, chief revenue officer at Hawaiian Airlines, commented on the expanded capacity: "We’re already seeing compelling demand for end-of-year travel and our extra flights will make it even more convenient for our guests to experience our Hawaiian hospitality during the holiday season."

The increased frequency on these routes is expected to provide thousands of additional seats over the winter season. On November 21, changes on the Honolulu-Seattle route will commence, adding significant capacity that Alaska Airlines Group can utilize through its Seattle hub.

Furthermore, Hawaiian Airlines' move aligns with their merger with Alaska Airlines Group last year. Larry Payne of the Hawaiian Airlines Master Executive Council stated that Alaska plans to establish a Hawaiian 787 pilot base in Seattle by March 2026.

With this expansion plan underway, questions remain about how branding will be managed moving forward given the presence of two airlines named after US states operating long-haul routes from another state.
