Travelers flying from London to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) can now save time before catching connecting flights, thanks to a new "one-stop" security setup announced by American Airlines. This trial setup allows passengers arriving from London's Heathrow Airport (LHR) to bypass baggage and security recheck processes.

Jim Moses, senior vice president of DFW hub operations at American Airlines, described the change as a "game changer," highlighting its efficiency for U.S. connecting customers. Travelers will go through passport control directly on the jet bridge as they deplane, allowing them to proceed directly to their connecting gates while their bags are transferred seamlessly.

For years, international travelers faced a lengthy process involving passport control, baggage claim and recheck, and additional security checks upon arrival in the U.S. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA), in collaboration with airlines and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, has been working to simplify these requirements for passengers arriving from certain approved international airports.

American Airlines expects this new program to significantly reduce connection times for passengers at its North Texas hub after its daily flights from Heathrow. Similar measures may soon be implemented at other airports. Delta Air Lines is also planning a similar pilot program at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL).

In addition to changes in Dallas and Atlanta, travelers are already experiencing streamlined security processes in London due to a partnership with the United Kingdom's Department for Transport. Passengers bound for Heathrow from DFW and Atlanta have been able to skip security rechecks since last winter.

American Airlines is also collaborating with Australia on a limited setup that allows Sydney-to-Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) travelers to bypass bag recheck procedures, although they must still clear security.
