Spirit Airlines is expanding its intra-state travel options in Florida by adding a new route between Key West International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The service will begin on November 6, with four weekly flights on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. From December 18, the frequency will increase to daily flights to accommodate holiday and winter demand.

The airline will operate this route using its Airbus A320 aircraft. John Kirby, Vice President of Network Planning at Spirit Airlines, highlighted the convenience and affordability of the new service: “Key West is a one-of-a-kind beach destination, and now travelers can easily access this island paradise and enjoy Spirit's elevated Guest experience along the way."

To promote the launch, Spirit is offering a special one-way fare starting at $79. This fare reflects the exclusivity of the route as no other carriers currently offer nonstop service between Fort Lauderdale and Key West.

Richard Strickland, Executive Director of Airports at Key West International Airport, expressed enthusiasm for Spirit's entry into the market: "Spirit Airlines entering the Key West market this November is fantastic news for our passengers near and far."

With this addition, Key West becomes Spirit Airlines' eighth destination in Florida. The airline already operates from several other airports in the state including Fort Lauderdale, Miami International Airport, Orlando International Airport, and others.

Spirit Airlines has been enhancing passenger experiences across its network by introducing new products like Spirit First and Premium Economy options. These offerings include larger seats with extra legroom, complimentary snacks and drinks, priority boarding, and more.

Founded in 1983, Spirit Airlines is an ultra-low-cost carrier based in the United States with multiple hubs including Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
