Various military aircraft from the United States have been arriving at Glasgow Prestwick Airport in preparation for a visit by U.S. President Donald Trump. While the airport usually handles passenger and cargo planes, this week it has seen an increase in heavy transport jets.

President Trump is known to travel on a modified Boeing 747, known as VC-25, which uses the callsign 'Air Force One' when carrying the president. During his stay in Scotland, he will use a helicopter for transportation, including the Sikorsky VH-92A 'Marine One'. The Daily Mail reports that two Boeing C-17 Globemaster III jets have arrived at Prestwick carrying Marine One.

Scottish First Minister John Swinney stated: "I’m confident Police Scotland has the resources and planning in place to deal with the situation and make sure events around and about President Trump are safe and secure." He also emphasized that public protests should be peaceful and lawful.

The police operation surrounding Trump's visit involves up to 6,000 officers and costs over £3 million ($4.06 million), making it one of the largest security operations in the UK since Queen Elizabeth II's death.

Trump's visit will last from July 25 to 29, during which he plans to visit his golf courses in Ayrshire and Aberdeenshire. Given its proximity to Turnberry golf course and quieter nature compared to Glasgow Airport, Prestwick is deemed suitable for such state visits.

Police preparations are already underway at Prestwick Airport ahead of Trump's arrival. US military aircraft have been spotted there alongside Police Scotland vehicles preparing for security operations.

Trump has had connections with Prestwick Airport even before his presidency. In 2014, he announced a partnership making it a base for Trump Aviation operations following a significant investment. During his first term as president, he used Prestwick while visiting his Turnberry resort.
