The Boeing 747, often referred to as the 'Queen of the Skies', has been a significant part of luxury air travel for many years. Known for its unique design, including a distinctive hump and raised cockpit area, the aircraft has had several models throughout its history. Among these are the 747-100, 747SP, 747-200, 747-300, 747-400, and 747-8. The last two models are noted for being the largest.
The Boeing 747-8 is slightly larger than the Boeing 747-400. It was developed as a stretched version of its predecessor. According to Boeing, "its fuselage stretches 18.3 feet (5.6 meters) longer than its -400 predecessor," making it "the largest version developed by Boeing." The total length of the -8 model is recorded at "250.2 feet (76.25 meters)."
Boeing's decision to wind up the production of the iconic aircraft was announced in July 2020 due to low demand and market changes influenced by factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic downturn in international air travel. The final delivery was made on January 31, 2023, to Atlas Air.
