Hawaiian Airlines is set to introduce the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on its Seattle to Tokyo Narita route starting in January 2026. This change replaces the Airbus A330-200 currently used for this service. The new aircraft will offer passengers enhanced onboard experiences, including lie-flat seats and improved comfort in the main cabin.

The deployment of the Dreamliner aligns with Hawaiian's expansion strategy following its merger with Alaska Airlines earlier this year. This move also places Hawaiian in direct competition with Japan Airlines, which operates a similar service using the Boeing 787-9.

From January to mid-April, Hawaiian will operate approximately 25 flights each way monthly with the Dreamliner, supplemented by six flights using the A330. The airline plans daily Dreamliner services through February and March, and a mix of both aircraft types in April.

Flight HA823 will depart Seattle at 12:30 p.m., arriving in Tokyo at 4:00 p.m. the next day. The return flight, HA824, leaves Tokyo at 6:25 p.m., reaching Seattle at 10:05 a.m. This schedule runs until April 20, 2026.

Hawaiian's Dreamliner features Leihōkū Suites in business class, offering privacy and comfort upgrades over the older A330 configuration. This enhancement aims to strengthen Hawaiian's position against competitors like Delta Air Lines on transpacific routes from Seattle.
