The Boeing 737 MAX 8, with a range of up to 4,150 miles, has become a staple for long-distance routes. Notably, Air Canada and WestJet use this aircraft across the Atlantic to connect Canada with cities like Dublin, London Gatwick, and Amsterdam Schiphol. However, the longest route operated by the Boeing 737 MAX 8 is from Brasília International Airport to Orlando International Airport. This route spans 3,778 miles and is exclusively operated by GOL Linhas Aéreas.

Throughout 2025, GOL will conduct approximately ten flights per week on this route. The airline also offers flights from Brasília to Miami using the same aircraft model. GOL's fleet includes 57 Boeing 737 MAX 8s with an additional 46 on order. These planes accommodate up to 186 passengers in an all-economy configuration but are reduced to 176 in international premium economy configurations.

Other notable long routes include Arajet's services from Santo Domingo Las Américas International Airport to Buenos Aires Ministro Pistarini International Airport at 3,734 miles and Punta Cana International Airport to Buenos Aires at 3,728 miles. Arajet plans further expansion into the US market.

Icelandair operates another significant route between Reykjavík Keflavik International Airport and Denver International Airport. Meanwhile, Southwest Airlines holds the title of the largest operator of the Boeing 737 MAX 8 globally.

Despite past controversies involving two major crashes that led to a grounding period for the aircraft, it remains a popular choice among airlines for long-haul narrowbody flights. However, competition looms as Airbus prepares deliveries of its A321XLR model.
