John Wayne Airport released its monthly statistics for April 2025, revealing a slight decline in total passenger numbers compared to the same period last year. The airport reported handling 910,435 passengers, marking a 0.7% decrease from April 2024's count of 916,552 passengers. Year-to-date figures showed a more significant drop of 5.1%, with total passengers reaching 3,438,071 in comparison to the previous year's figure of 3,622,174.

The number of enplaned passengers remained relatively stable at 454,064 in April 2025 versus 454,021 in April 2024. Deplaned passengers decreased by 1.3%, with the airport accommodating 456,371 deplaned travelers this year compared to last year's figure of 462,531.

Aircraft operations saw an increase of 11.5% for the month and a rise of 3.5% on a year-to-date basis. General aviation operations increased by 15.8%, while commercial aircraft operations saw only a marginal increase of 0.1%. Commuter flights experienced significant growth with a jump of nearly three-quarters (73.9%) from last year’s numbers.

Air cargo tonnage handled by John Wayne Airport also declined slightly by 4.1% for April and dropped by 12% on a year-to-date comparison.

International travel figures included within these totals reflected declines as well; international passenger numbers were down by nearly eight percent for April and more than ten percent over the course of the year so far.
