China Airlines is set to introduce flights between Taipei and Phoenix, following the announcement by fellow Taiwanese airline STARLUX of a similar service. The new route by China Airlines will commence in December, a month before STARLUX's launch in January 2026. The airline plans to operate this route three times a week with an Airbus A350-900 aircraft, making stops at Los Angeles on the return journey.

The decision to fly to Phoenix comes as the city emerges as a "tech hub" with increasing business travel demand. Flights will be available every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday starting December 3. In an effort to attract passengers, China Airlines is offering up to 14% discounts on economy return fares.

China Airlines stated, "As part of its efforts to connect Taiwan with key industrial nodes across the world, China Airlines will become the first Asian carrier to fly to Phoenix, Arizona."

Both China Airlines and STARLUX plan to use Airbus A350-900s for their services but have chosen different days for operations. This scheduling means there will be nonstop flights between Taipei and Phoenix on all days except Monday and Saturday.

Regarding cabin layouts, STARLUX offers four classes including first class suites while China Airlines provides three classes. Both airlines' A350s can accommodate 306 passengers each.

An advantage for China Airlines passengers is its codeshare partnership with Southwest Airlines. This allows interline ticketing to over 30 American cities from Phoenix within the same terminal.

China Airlines continues expanding its US network; it has been operating flights to the United States for over five decades. Currently serving several major US cities along with Vancouver in Canada, Phoenix becomes the latest addition.
