Riyadh Air is preparing to launch daily flights between Riyadh and London Heathrow starting October 26, 2025. This date coincides with the start of the winter schedule for airlines in the northern hemisphere. The new service will make Riyadh Air one of the latest entrants at Heathrow, joining other newcomers such as Air Peace.

The flights are expected to be operated by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. Initially, Riyadh Air may use an aircraft previously operated by Oman Air before transitioning to a new plane equipped with its own cabin configuration. The airline appears set to utilize British Airways’ slots through the bmi remedy slot release process.

Heathrow has been chosen as Riyadh Air’s likely first destination, reflecting its importance as a high-demand and high-yield market. In the year leading up to May 2025, about 500,000 passengers traveled directly between Riyadh and Heathrow. Average fares on this route reached around $1,400 each way due to significant demand from business and government travelers, along with students and those visiting friends or relatives. By comparison, routes such as Heathrow-Jeddah see lower average fares.

Riyadh Air will become the fourth carrier operating direct flights between Riyadh and Heathrow during winter 2025. Virgin Atlantic began flying this route in March 2025; British Airways returned in 2009 and currently operates up to ten weekly flights in winter; Saudia plans double daily services after reducing frequencies from summer levels. Both Saudia and Riyadh Air receive funding from Saudi wealth funds.

Virgin Atlantic’s recent entry into this market has increased competition among carriers serving this busy route. Partnerships with airlines like Virgin Atlantic and Delta Air Lines are expected to support Riyadh Air’s growth until it expands its own network further across Asia using additional aircraft on order.

For winter 2025, there will be up to four airlines flying between Riyadh and Heathrow: British Airways (10 weekly), Saudia (double daily), Virgin Atlantic (daily), and soon Riyadh Air (daily).

Heathrow’s connectivity with the Middle East remains strong overall, with fourteen passenger airlines scheduled for winter operations linking London with twelve cities across the region. These services account for roughly seven percent of all departures at Heathrow during this period.
