Delta Air Lines responded to a turbulence incident on Wednesday, July 30, when flight DL56 from Salt Lake City International Airport to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol was diverted to Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) after encountering significant turbulence over Wyoming.

The Airbus A330-900, carrying 275 customers and 13 crew members, landed safely at MSP. Upon arrival, medical personnel and emergency responders met the aircraft to evaluate and care for passengers and crew. Twenty-five individuals were transported to local hospitals for further evaluation and care.

By Thursday morning, all seven crew members who had been taken to area hospitals were treated and released. All customers who were evaluated at the hospital and chose to share their status with Delta had also been released. Delta expressed appreciation for the response and support provided by first responders.

Delta is cooperating with the National Transportation Safety Board as it investigates the event.

The airline emphasized its commitment to safety. "Safety is our No. 1 value at Delta, and our Delta Care Team on Wednesday night and Thursday personally reached out to customers who were on the flight to assist them with their immediate needs, as well as coordinate their onward travel."

To help affected travelers continue their journeys, Delta arranged a special flight from MSP to Amsterdam scheduled for Thursday evening.

"Safety is our No. 1 value at Delta, and our Delta Care Team is working directly with customers to support their immediate needs," the airline stated.
