Airlines are investing more in airport lounges as part of efforts to improve the travel experience for frequent flyers and premium passengers. United Airlines, which operates nearly 50 United Clubs at over 40 airports worldwide, has focused on upgrading its lounges with larger spaces, improved food and drink options, and enhanced access.

United’s lounges vary widely across its network. While some offer basic amenities, others provide a broader range of services and features. Among these, the United Club at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is often recognized as one of the best in the system.

Located in Terminal 7 next to Gate 71A, the LAX United Club is designed to handle high passenger volumes while maintaining comfort. The lounge spans about 20,000 square feet and offers various seating options including bar-height tables, booths for work, and armchairs near large windows. There is also an outdoor terrace that provides a quieter space even during busy times.

Passengers note that even during peak periods it is usually possible to find available seating without feeling overcrowded. An additional quiet area towards the back of the lounge helps reduce congestion in main areas. Nearly every seat comes with power access and fast WiFi is available throughout.

The lounge receives consistent positive feedback from travelers regarding its service and amenities. According to Live and Let’s Fly, “one of the best in the United system,” highlighting features such as a full hot buffet, rotating craft beer taps, noodle bar, natural light, and modern design compared to older club locations. Travelers on online forums also praise efficient staff who handle booking changes quickly and appreciate food choices like chicken bulgogi, noodle bowls, salads, fruit, snacks, as well as self-service beverage stations.

Other notable United Clubs include those at London Heathrow—known for attentive staff and a full bar—and Tokyo Narita Airport—valued for size and diverse food offerings including sushi. The Hong Kong International Airport lounge stands out for catering quality and an open balcony overlooking the terminal.

Despite its strengths, LAX’s United Club does have drawbacks: there are no shower facilities (these are reserved for guests of the adjacent Polaris Lounge), which can be inconvenient for long-haul travelers or those arriving after overnight flights. Additionally, boarding announcements are not made inside the lounge; guests must rely on mobile apps or screens for updates—a potential issue during busy periods or gate changes. During peak travel times such as evenings or holidays, congestion can occur at both buffet lines and seating areas.

Overall, while each traveler may have different priorities depending on their journey or expectations from a lounge visit—including location preferences such as London or Tokyo—the LAX United Club brings together key elements like scale, comfort, efficiency, and consistent service in one place.

Los Angeles International Airport (IATA code: LAX) serves as a major international gateway in Los Angeles with significant daily traffic volume across domestic and international routes.
