Indianapolis International Airport is expanding its domestic network with the addition of two new routes this month. Southwest Airlines has resumed flights between Indianapolis and Chicago Midway Airport, while Delta Air Lines will restart service to Raleigh–Durham International Airport next week.
Southwest Airlines returned to the Indianapolis-Chicago Midway corridor today after a nearly five-year hiatus. The airline now operates twice-daily, year-round flights on Boeing 737-700, 737-800, and 737 MAX 8 aircraft. Morning departures leave Indianapolis at 07:30 and arrive in Chicago at 07:40 as flight WN212. The return from Chicago departs at 10:00, arriving in Indianapolis at 12:05 as WN431. An evening rotation leaves Indianapolis at 16:50 (WN3074) and returns from Chicago at 20:25 (WN2303).
Mario Rodriguez of the Indianapolis Airport Authority said, "The Midway route gives Hoosier travelers more regional access and more flexibility when flying into Chicago. This route is also going to serve both business and leisure travel with more convenience, access, and connectivity across the country and beyond."
