The staff at Simple Flying used ChatGPT to determine what the best military aircraft of all time are, based on combat effectiveness, innovation, longevity, and historical significance. The results produced a list that omitted some well-known planes, such as the North American P-51 Mustang and the Lockheed C-130 Hercules.

Fighter jets made up most of the list, with only two propeller planes, one bomber, and a reconnaissance aircraft included. The top ten aircraft ranked by ChatGPT are:
