JetBlue Airways has taken further steps to retire its Embraer E190 fleet as it transitions to the Airbus A220. The airline recently sold 23 General Electric CF34 engines to aftermarket companies, according to Aviation Week. Of these, Werner Aero acquired 12 engines, while BeauTech Power Systems purchased 11. In addition, JetBlue sold 13 Embraer E190s with a total of 34 CF34 engines to aircraft lessor Azorra. Deliveries began in July and are expected to continue through mid-2026.
JetBlue plans to end operations of the Embraer E190 by early September. The carrier currently operates nine E190s as of August 2025 and intends for its future fleet to consist mainly of Airbus A220-300 and A320 family aircraft. This move follows JetBlue's gradual retirement of the E190 type since 2022, after having operated up to 60 units at one point.
Werner Aero will receive six Embraer E190 airframes along with the engines from JetBlue. The acquisition is expected to strengthen Werner Aero’s maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities amid ongoing supply chain challenges in aviation parts and services.
