JetBlue sells more Embraer E190s and GE engines ahead of full fleet retirement

Azorra’s purchase expands its portfolio with more flexible solutions for airlines seeking additional capacity without long wait times for new aircraft deliveries. The deal is seen by some analysts as a sign of continued demand for used Embraer jets.

BeauTech Power Systems’ engine acquisition positions it well amid heightened demand for replacement engines due to extended service lives of older jets and tight MRO schedules globally.

JetBlue’s shift towards an all-Airbus narrowbody fleet reflects broader industry trends favoring fuel efficiency and commonality across models. Currently operating 50 Airbus A220-300s—with another 50 on order—JetBlue expects cost savings from lower fuel burn rates compared with older models such as the E190. The airline also operates significant numbers of Airbus A320-200s (129), A321-200s (63), and A321neo/A321LRs (37).

The transition comes at a time when global airlines face lengthy waits for new jets due to production backlogs; used regional jets like the E190 remain attractive options for carriers needing quick capacity additions.

With over 500 units produced, the Embraer E190 remains one of the most widely used variants within its family—a factor contributing both to robust second-hand market interest and ongoing aftermarket support needs.
