John Wayne Airport reported its June 2025 passenger and operations statistics, showing an increase in several categories compared to the same month last year. The airport recorded a total of 1,022,397 passengers in June 2025, a 6.1% rise from the 963,531 passengers reported in June 2024.

The number of enplaned passengers grew by 6.5% to reach 513,612 in June 2025. Deplaned passengers also increased by 5.7%, totaling 508,785 for the month.

Total aircraft operations saw a notable increase of 13.7%, with 28,295 operations in June this year compared to 24,878 in June last year. General aviation accounted for much of this growth with a rise of 15.5%. Commercial aircraft operations rose by 7.6%, while commuter operations experienced significant growth at nearly 57%. Military flights declined by more than half.

Year-to-date numbers showed a slight decrease overall for total passengers—down by about -1.7% from the same period last year—while total aircraft operations rose by over eight percent.

Air cargo activity dropped both for the month and year-to-date periods; air cargo tons decreased by six percent in June and almost ten percent since January.

International travel through John Wayne Airport continued its downward trend with international passenger traffic falling nearly twenty percent for the month and almost fourteen percent on a yearly basis.

The report also noted that all-cargo carriers transported approximately 1,173 tons while passenger carriers carried an additional ninety-five tons as incidental belly cargo during May.
