Denver International Airport has opened a new East Security Checkpoint, featuring 17 screening lanes on Level 6 of the east side of the Great Hall. The checkpoint was formally opened Tuesday by airport officials and the Transportation Security Administration. This new facility replaces the South Security Checkpoint, which closed at the same time.

The East Security Checkpoint is modeled after the West Security Checkpoint that began operating last year. Both checkpoints now provide three entrances tailored to different passenger needs: standard screening, priority security and Clear members without TSA PreCheck, and TSA PreCheck holders. The eastern checkpoint will be open daily from 3 a.m. until 1 a.m.

Passengers being dropped off for East Security should use doors 601 to 605, with TSA PreCheck access nearest doors 601 and 603.

As part of these changes, the bridge to Concourse A has also reopened. After clearing security, travelers can walk directly across the bridge to reach A gates instead of taking the underground train. This is expected to reduce congestion on trains and offer passengers an alternative route to lounges in Concourse A, such as the Capital One Lounge.

Additionally, arriving passengers at Concourse A can now exit through the Great Hall via the bridge without using the train system.

These updates are part of Denver’s ongoing Great Hall modernization project, which is scheduled for completion by late 2027. The next planned improvement is eight new standard security lanes on Level 5 near international arrivals, set to open in late summer 2026. This addition aims to streamline connections for international passengers and will include more escalators and stairs for easier access to baggage claim and ground transportation.
