How Global Entry applicants can secure hard-to-find interview appointments

Applicants for Global Entry who have received conditional approval but are unable to find an available interview slot at their preferred enrollment center may have new options to secure an appointment.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Department of Homeland Security's Trusted Traveler Programs release new interview slots on the first Monday of each month at 9 a.m. local time. These appointments can be accessed through applicants' TTP dashboards. The next scheduled release date is Sept. 1.

For those unable to schedule interviews in advance, CBP offers alternative methods such as Enrollment on Arrival (EOA). This service allows conditionally approved applicants returning from international travel to complete their Global Entry interview during the immigration process at one of 16 international or 52 U.S. airport locations. Travelers should look for "Enrollment on Arrival" signs in the passport control area or ask a CBP agent for directions. EOA interviews are only available during specific hours, so travelers are advised to confirm availability before arrival.

Another option is Enrollment on Departure (EOD), which enables applicants to complete their interviews before departing from select airports. EOD is currently offered at Gate 41 in Concourse B of Dulles International Airport near Washington, D.C., and in Concourse J on Level 2 opposite the Lufthansa check-in counter at Miami International Airport. At Dulles, EOD operates daily from noon to 8 p.m.; at Miami, it is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

For both EOA and EOD, travelers must bring a valid passport and proof of residency, such as a driver's license with current address or other accepted documents.

Applicants may also benefit from checking for last-minute cancellations online, as some scheduled interviews become available unexpectedly due to cancellations.

Those seeking additional help can use third-party alert services like Appointment Scanner or Global Entry Spotter. Appointment Scanner charges $29 for one month of alerts—up to 25 per day—for up to three enrollment centers and offers notifications via text message or email without auto-renewal; dissatisfied customers can request a refund within 30 days. According to Appointment Scanner: "Although it 'can't promise you'll be able to schedule an interview,' it will refund any unsatisfied customers within 30 days." Global Entry Spotter provides unlimited SMS alerts for a one-time fee of $25 until an appointment is booked and opted out by the user.

These services notify users when appointments become available but do not book them automatically; applicants must act quickly upon receiving an alert.

The monthly first Monday appointment release is intended to help travelers use Global Entry sooner, particularly at busy enrollment centers where slots fill quickly.

CBP reminds applicants that new appointments will next be released on Sept. 1.
